On Thursday 12 March, HarperCollins Publishers had the pleasure of hosting our Education Preview for 2015 held in our Sydney office. Teachers, librarians and business partners joined us for this informative and rewarding evening.
Our guests were welcomed by our Director of Children’s Publishing Cristina Cappelluto who spoke about HarperCollins publishing history and our commitment to quality literature. We were then entertained by the talented Elaine Smith Education Consultant from CDP theatre producers who spoke about the new adaptation of SNUGGLEPOT AND CUDDLEPIE which will come alive on stage for contemporary audiences in June 2015.A Teacher Resource Kit is available to assist schools integrate a visit to see Snugglepot & Cuddlepie into classroom programs. The Teacher Resource Kit includes relevant links to the Australian curriculum and comprehensive suggestions on differentiating the activities for students of all needs and abilities.
Author/ Illustrator Bruce Whatley spoke about the research and the illustration process for The Beach They Called Gallipoli . A selection of resources for your classroom Teachers Notes , Mudmap and a YouTube Video available for your classroom use.
International manager Jeremy Sanchirico from Usborne Books informed the audience about their best-selling reading programs and the vast range of books , from art to illustrated dictionaries, languages, cookery and fiction. You can browse the complete Usborne catalogue on their website.
Abdi Aden shared his inspiring story of survival with us, interviewer Yvette Poshoglian uncovered areas of his story that could be used in the classroom. Shining The Story of A Lucky Man available in June 2015.
Award winning author Libby Hathorn engaged the audience with her personal story that led to the writing of Eventual Poppy Day Teacher Resources Available.
